On the 30th of November 2016, the Student Innovation Idea Lab hosted the inaugural Women’s Entrepreneurship Day celebration at Cal Poly Pomona. The event was sponsored by the Cal Poly Pomona College of Business Administration, University Library, Women’s Faculty Association, CPP V Team, Women’s Resource Center, Society of Women Engineer’s and the American Association of University Women (AAUW). In addition to inviting all of campus to the celebrations, we welcomed 50 students from Ganesha High School in Pomona.
The celebration began with opening remarks from President Soraya Coley, followed by a Smart Start Workshop led by Donna Lilly. Keynote Speakers for the event were State Senator Connie Levya and Ngoc Nguyen Lay, founder of Skybox Event Productions. Panelists provided a moderated discussion with the audience. Students were given the opportunity to pitch a solution to a problem to the audience for the chance of winning cash prizes. The event concluded with a tour of the University Library and a special exhibit organized specifically for WED.
We appreciate the contribution made by each and every one involved in making this WED a wonderful and rewarding experiences for our entrepreneurial ecosystem. We thank all of the organizers, judges, panelist, keynote speakers, and sponsors for making Cal Poly Pomona’s inaugural WED a huge success!
